This was an attempt to capture a much photographed icon differently. A low veiwpoint was chosen to remove as much clutter as possible from the field of view. The use of infrared film enabled the usual tones of the foreground grasses and sky to be reversed to provide a dramatic effect, whilst accentuating the skyscape.
Maco 120 IR 820c film stock exposed for 1 second at f22 through a Mamiya 330s and 55mm lens then developed in Rodinal. Split grade printed on Ilford Multigrade IV paper with extensive local burning at grades 00 and 5.
An intrusive tourist in a white coat was spotted out.
