Antony Marlow LRPS. Ironbridge 1779. This is Telford's bridge in Shropshire, the first iron bridge to be constructed in the world. Now closed to all but pedestrians, and preserved as a national monument for posterity. This picture was taken one afternoon, into the light. I used the bridge to block out most of the lens flair, but the back-light has made the view through the bridge a bit soft. I was worried about the contrast in printing so I tried Les MacLean's split tone printing technique, which seemed to work. I think I could have given a bit more exposure at grade 5 to improve the contrast, without blocking out the shadows. Camera:- Pentax MZ 3, 43mm lens, orange filter. Film:- FP4 @ 80 ISO developed in Rodinal 1:50. Printed on Ilford Fibre Multigrade IV paper and scanned. |
