Antony Marlow LRPS. Athabasca Glacier. "This shot was taken on a holiday in the Canadian Rockies, from the road between Banff & Jasper, "the Iceway" is as good as the guide books say. It's a black & white landscape, superb choice of views, but needs a bit of thought to get a reasonable photograph. When the weather is fine, and it often is, then its inspirational, but if it turns nasty you really have to work for a picture. I wasn't in a tour party, but hired a car, which took a lot of pressure off the timetable, and I only had to pacify the family. Providing I got them fed on time they co-operated". Tony says that he is still searching for a satisfactory 400 ISO film / developer combination. He has tried Delta 400, HP5 & Kodak Tri X with ID11 Rodinal and pyro developers. Just when he thinks he has the answer he inexplicably developes a film with grain like golf balls. His next trial is Delta 400 with Ilfotec DD-X developer. |
