Chalk Cliff Shadows, I am an amateur natural light and landscape photographer based in the Kent area of South East England. I have only been taking photography seriously since late 2000 after I found an old Practika SLR in my brother's loft. I have recently given up my darkroom to concentrate on digital image realization and output although I am keen to limit the computer to the emulation of traditional darkroom skills using digital methods. For this shot I used a Bronica SQb, fitted with a Zenzanon 40mm S and yellow filter, and Ilford Delta 100 (ei 80). Developed in Perceptol 1:3. Double scan method - first scanned for background highlights (losing cliff shadow details), second scanned giving priority to foreground shadows. Two images merged as layers then blacked out shadows carefully erased with soft brush tool. Minor tonal tweaking and sharpening to finish. |
