Les is well known as a teacher, printer, lecturer, and author on black and white photography. For more than 20 years he has taught workshops on printing and street photography in many parts of the world.

"Because I wanted to retain some sharpness in the moving water and at the same time give an impression of movement, I used a single exposure of 1/8th sec at f22. Had I used a multiple exposure, the texture of the water would have been like cotton wool, and I would have lost the impression that I set out to convey. The exposure was made on medium format Ilford Delta 100 developed in ID11, and the negative was scanned and manipulated in Photoshop, although the final print will be made in the darkroom using traditional materials".
