One Year On.

It occured to me that it is about a year since I started using my darkroom, and it's evolution may be of interest. Not that it's finished yet of course; hence the use of the word evolution.

I still have to build a print drying rack so that print drying doesn't stop print production as it does now.

The high value of insulation was well worth installing. It allows a 1 Kw heater to easily maintain an internal temperature of 22C. We have yet to have outside temperatures lower than minus 8C, so perhaps the system has yet to be fully tested.

I brought a Durst 1200/VSL501 enlarger during the summer, not that there was anything wrong with the LPL ,although the it's transformer did fail. The Durst 1200 is fitted with a Multigrade head with dial in VC grades and exposure compensation. Several other features make it easier to use than the LPL, such as the focusing rod hanging down at the side.

As I said, it's still evolving, and come spring I must get moving on those drying shelves.

A few more bottles have found a home here.

I'm always on the lookout for that magic potion that will transform my printing.
